Tarneit is located near volcano country.

Click here to find out about the volcanoes in the region. Mount Cottrell (gated private holding) below is a distinctive marker that accentuates Tarneit’s northern horizon. Pity it sits on private land. I tried driving to get onto its peak to do a time-lapse of Tarneit a few weeks back but was stopped short at the gate. There is however, a large park to its east (looks used by the Melton Model Aircraft Association)
